Welcome to Southdown, an award-winning B&B in the heart of the historic county of Wiltshire.
Southdown is the home of Sue & Martyn Melvin and is a modern detached house set in a large garden in the hamlet of Roundway Village, a mile from the historic market town of Devizes. The B&B has 3 guest bedrooms and was rated 4 star Silver with Visit England with Visit England and Visit Wiltshire Breakfast Awards. In 2015 it was awarded Visit England’s ROSE award, given for outstanding hospitality. Because Southdown will be closing as a B&B on 21st September, these memberships have not been renewed but standards have not changed.
Location: A footpath running alongside the house leads to the Kennet & Avon Canal and the attractions and facilities of Devizes. A short walk in the other direction takes you up onto Roundway Down on the edge of the North Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Here you can find the Devizes Millennium White Horse (one of 8 horses cut into the Wiltshire Downs), the site of the Battle of Roundway (1643) and Oliver’s Castle hillfort.
Rates range from £55 per night (single occupancy in twin room) to £96 (double occupancy in larger double). There is a 10% discount for 3+ nights. Smoking is not permitted on the premises. We regret we are unable to take pets.
