Southdown is situated in the hamlet of Roundway Village, just outside Devizes in the centre of Wiltshire. Devizes is on the A361 and can easily be reached from all directions. From London Road (A361 in Devizes), turn up Folly Road next to the Travelodge & Subway. Southdown is the first house on the left as you enter Roundway Village, half a mile from the turning.
If heading West on the M4, exit at Hungerford. If heading East on the M4, exit at Chippenham. If coming from the south, exit the A303 at Andover or Amesbury.
By Public Transport:
There are a number of train stations within the county, with bus services linking to Devizes. Swindon has the most comprehensive rail service locally and there is a regular bus service - the 49 stops at the end of our road. For your best routes using public transport, try the very comprehensive Travelinewebsite which includes train, bus and coach information.
We can also help with advice and timetables during your stay. A rail map can be found here or call me for advice. There is also a daily coach service to and from London - prices vary but can be as little as £5 for a single journey. Click here for more information.
If you’d like further information about public transport and/or local taxi services, please ask. We are happy to book taxis for you in advance of your visit.
Our online system only accepts bookings for 2+ nights at weekends. For single nights on Fridays, Saturdays & Sundays please email or phone to check our availability. Please note we are closing as a B&B after breakfast on 20th September.
If we don’t appear to have availability for your chosen dates, it’s worth phoning or emailing to check as sometimes we can move bookings to different rooms. For example, we have several regular guests who are happy to take any of the rooms.
