Please feel free to contact us with any other questions.
Q. Do I need to be an experienced walker to enjoy your walking holidays?
A. No, there are plenty of short walks and you can walk as little or as much as you like. This is an ideal place for a beginner to try out a walking holiday.
Q. I'm an experienced hill walker. Can you offer walks to challenge me?
A. Although Wiltshire is a relatively gentle county, we do have hills and you can always go for distance rather than height! We believe there is something for everyone here.
Q. What sort of equipment will I need?
A. Walking boots are essential unless you only plan very short walks on even ground. A walking pole can be useful, especially in hilly and/or muddy areas. Depending on the weather, a waterproof jacket is advisable. You will also need an A4 size map holder if using our maps/directions although we can probably provide one if necessary.
Q. I love walking but my friend/partner isn't so keen. Would this holiday be suitable for them?
A. Yes, there are plenty of opportunities for days out in the nearby vicinity or further afield (including London).
Q. Do you cater for special diets?
A. As long as you let us know in advance, we will do our best to accommodate your dietary needs.
Q. How far is the nearest pub/restaurant?
A. The Hourglass is closest, a mile away. Devizes is under 1½ miles from here and has a large selection of pubs and restaurants.
Q. I'm nervous about walking on my own but will be holidaying alone.
A. Wiltshire is a very safe county. If you don't wish to go too far afield, there are many walks along the canal and in our local area. It may be possible to book a singles week so that you can walk with others. Please ask. You could also consider going on one or two guided walks. Ask for more info.
Q. I see you accept credit cards. Is there an additional charge for this?
A. No, although many companies do charge ex, we prefer to give you the opportunity to pay however you wish. Your card provider may also provide you with some insurance.
Q. Are you open all year round?
A. We are open all the time between March and October for walking holidays. Should you wish to stay with us at any time between November and February, you can take advantage of our standard Bed & Breakfast rates and still make use of our special facilities for walkers.
Q. Are your holidays suitable for children?
A. Yes. Local walks are very suitable for children of all ages and there are plenty of other attractions to keep them entertained.
Q. Where is the nearest railway station?
A. We don't have one in Devizes but there are plenty of stations in Wiltshire, most
being within a 30 minute drive or a bus journey -
